Renault Megane is one of the five door hatchbacks that have undergone a complete makeover. The old version was not attractive and outclassed to a large extent lacking modern technologies and the efficiency needed by the engine in the present high speed era. Renault has worked hard and made this car equal to the rivals in every sense. The exterior is more attractive with bold cuts and trims with a classy interior equipped with latest technology and efficiency that was much needed by the engines. You can say that an overall makeover has been applied to the Renault Megane to make its place in the market and be a proud owning car by the purchaser.
The trim levels are injected with very attractive engine range. There are four engines offered in the category with active engines and power generators. The petrol engine comprises of a 1.2 TCe 130 is offered throughout the range, the second one is 1.6 TCe 205 is only offered in the top-spec GT model.
The diesels are more venerable to Renault and it includes 1.5 dCi 110, and the 1.6 dCi 130. The trim levels have two options, a six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed auto transmission with an innovative four-wheel steering system. The engineers have successfully installed an engine which is impressively less noisy and levels the bumpy road as if it is not there. The petrol engines perform well but the diesel side is not as punchier as its rivals are.
The drive is comfortable but due to light steering, the car turns out to be lazy in turns. Once it gets settled on the road, the car grips firmly and although there is some roll, the car has a good body control especially on bumps, the vehicle stays firm and not loose balance or disturbs the occupiers.
Renault has always prided itself in economical engines and the diesel engines prove this right. The petrol ones are also not behind but they are a little expensive to run but with more efficiency, one can ignore a little more money spent on the road.
The interior of the car is very impressive with well-built touch screen technology and up to date features. The boot space and head room is good and the passengers can comfortably feel at home inside the car. Only one thing that is not up to the mark is driver’s seat which is situated lower than it usually is and if you are a tall driver then there will be more bent in your knees but the seat and steering adjustments have a lot of flexibility.
The dashboard is well placed and all the controls are in the reach of hand with easy functioning and also nicer to look at. The touch screen is 7 inch in the Dynamique Navigation with satellite navigation as standard and more attractive controls. The stitching of the seats depends on the trim level you are purchasing. Some have flat one colored interior while other have a colored line going through the seats covers. All these features are awesome but due to lower seat the getting in and getting out become sometimes difficult for the driver as well as the passengers.
