The ride under discussion was discontinued in 2010 and it returned in the market with a bang. What is meant by a facelift can be best described by what has Skoda done for this model in its renewal. The update in 2017 has made this saloon more promising to deliver what it is really designed and engineered for. Skoda Octavia has become a trade mark for this brand, which is a big credit for a model which was discontinued and due to market demand, it was back in business. The elegant bold look supported by a well performing engine choice, groups two very desirable things in this creation. The front Styling is eye catching, the grills and LED lights depicting luxury making the vehicle smart from every angle. Skoda Octavia is put under the category of premium or entry level luxury cars but it is sure to give you a feel of high class with its cabin and exterior as well as its ride on road.
There are four engines offered for this model. The starter is a 1.0-Litre petrol powering the hatchback with 113bhp, up the leader is a 1.4-Litre having 148bhp, and then there is a 1.6-Litre diesel engine and finally the range topper 2.0-Litre diesel with 148bhp. All the petrol and diesel engine except the 1.6-Litre diesel gets six-speed manual gearbox and the 1.6-Litre is paired with a five-speed unit.
The option of automatic gear transmission is also present which works very well with Octavia engines. All these engine blend performance, practicality and economy very well. The 1.6-Litre diesel engine may not have all the good reputation but still it is an affordable choice.
As being a prominent one, a Skoda owner wants it to be good in driving temperament and accurate with its steering and weight distribution. This is exactly what they get and a smooth predictable ride is what the result is. Engines are hushed and seldom the cabin gets a vibration due to some serious jolt otherwise you experience a luxury-line journey.
The timing of 0-62 mph is really good in most of the engines and with a touch to the accelerator you are taken to a new level of comfort. It is a moderate car for those who love economy and yet needs stable driving. Handling is good with a little body roll which can be ignored with all the other such promising features.
The car is not at all racy from its looks. Inside the cabin are firm but comfortable seats allowing the driver to adjust according to need, obtaining a suitable position. The pedals are well placed to remain in the drivers reach which is a key to uninterrupted handling. The 8.0 touch screen is highly responsive with clear functions. Digital radio, Bluetooth and audio streaming are all standard. Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink are standard.
As you move up accessories keep on adding. In the SE L, SE Technology and Lauren and Kelmet there are added sat nav and on-board wifi are present as standard and in some of them there is a 9.2 inch screen attatched. Then there is a long list of very useful options which rely on personal choice what to get and what to leave. As more options you avail, the price keeps rising up.
