A car with imperious designing and which is fuel efficient as well. The car which you are looking for is Audi A8, a tremendous German car manufacturing company. So, without any delay let’s explore the masterpiece, Audi A8.
It hides in the margins of those broad camera shots outside the awards ceremonies; stars disgorged onto the red carpet from its back seats, all thanks to Audi’s deal to present chauffeur-driven cars to many of the Britain’s biggest events.
Certainly, its discrete, near-anonymous styling makes it the most perfect vehicle for those hoping to glide around unnoticed in the luxurious surroundings. But the A8 has some actually tough rivals in the form of the younger, fresher Mercedes-Benz S-class and BMW 7-Series. There is also Jaguar’s svelte XJ to contend with – so if the smart A8’s to come out on top, it is going to take more than only friends in high places.
In terms of dashboard, the A8 is quite an old car now, and you can also feel that inside, where it experiences dated-feeling entertainment system that needs a confusing array of buttons, touch-pad to operate and knobs.
It doesn’t really help that the menu system is not all that simple to navigate, either. You can also detect the Audi’s age in the instrument binnacle, which is deficient in the neat “virtual cockpit†fitted to newer cars.
Instead, there is lots of information presented in just one space, which can look somehow untidy. But while the A8’s cockpit is not the easiest to use, it’s gorgeously made, along with high-quality materials throughout and a very calming ambiance.
Have you ever tried to helm a naval warship along a canal? No, perhaps not. Neither have we, if we are honest, but the notion of it should give you some inkling of what it’s like to try and receive the A8 through a width restriction.
In other words, not at all small car and its girth and length make it really a challenge to navigate through the tight streets. It doesn’t help that the steering, while light and quite easy to twirl, is nonetheless slow and it could act with more lock too.
What’s more, the automatic (non-manual) gearbox – standard on each and every model – can get flustered if you simply prod the throttle too sharply, changing down bumpier than the equivalent BMW 7-series or Mercedes S-class might.
No doubt, big limos can be good thrill to drive, as the BMW 7-series shows, but the Audi A8 isn’t really much of a laugh. That’s not to declare it’s all at sea in bends – quite far from it, honestly, as all the models have four-wheel-drive which endows them with plenty of strong grip.
The air suspension, too, does a fantastic job of keeping the body upright, making the Audi A8 feel taught and composed. However, the big and spacious Audi doesn’t turn in particularly excitedly; the front end bites well enough, but the steering is somewhat slow, so fast changes of direction invariably feel like a chore, rather than a joy.
Mainly throw in a chassis setup which errs on the side of protection and safety, rather than mere excitement, and the whole thing observes rather bland. The swift S8 and S8 Plus models are considerably better, along with their throaty-sounding turbocharged V8s and smarter steering, though even this can’t completely match up to the involvement and tyre-smoking thrills of the elegant Mercedes-AMG S63 and S65 models.
In accordance with the tradition of Audi, the A8 is also powered by strong and muscular engine. The 3.0 litre V6 TDI engine delivers 258bhp and takes the car to 62mph in just 5.9 seconds and offers a fuel economy of 49.6mpg and if you want sturdier one then here is 4.2 litre TDI V8, offering 380bhp and a torque of 850 Nm. It approaches 0 to 62mph in just 4.7 seconds.
The A8’s economy of fuel is roughly the same as the Mercedes S-class’s, but it is unfortunately beaten in this area by the BMW 7-series and Jaguar XJ. That puts this Audi toward the back of the class in case of fuel economy, although if you’re going to buy the S8, you’ll discover it more efficient than Jaguar’s XJR (although the XJR is also more powerful).
We can easily say that Audi A8 is a masterpiece and if you are looking for a car with premium styling, well-built interior and off course, healthy and muscular engine, then you are thinking right.
The A8 is an ideally lovely thing to drive and to be driven in. Furthermore, it’s comparatively cheap to buy and includes latest technology and very efficient in terms of performance.
