The brand new Audi A5 was unveiled last year at the LA motor show along with A5 Coupe and 5-door A5 Sportback. It grabbed everyone’s attention because of its fine details in design and spectacular engine.
Elegant design has always been Audi’s trademark and A5 keeping up with the norm has a great sporty look. Design details include an eminent shoulder line, rear window that looks like a bit lifted from the Coupe. The car has Audi’s latest signature LED headlamps which add volume to its exterior. Overhangs on the front as well as back of the car are short giving it a sporty outlook and a spacious cabin.
The car is looking to be a refined version of its predecessor. The A5 is 47mm longer than the previous model. The new length is 4,673mm and Audi also claims the new model to be 40kg lighter than the previous model.
The 2.0-Litre TFSI petrol engine with 187bhp horsepower is a powerful one is considered the best in the market. It is a front wheel drive with a six-speed manual gearbox. However, a seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox is also available as a variant. Top speed is 187bhp which is pretty ideal if you are looking for an all-in-one kind of car. The CO2 emission is also being improved making it an environment-friendly option. The manual version gives the figures of 47.9mpg and 136g/km while the S Tronic model is claimed to perform even better with just 50.4mpg and 127g/km CO2 emission.
Audi has also introduced the diesel variant which is a 2.0-litre TDI giving 187 bhp power. This diesel engine comes with a standard S Tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox with front as well as all-wheel drive. In terms of performance, the front wheel drive is more efficient promising 62.8mpg and 118g/km CO2 emissions. These are reasonable figures when compared with Quattro having 60.1mpg and 122g/km CO2 emissions. The difference is quite clear.
The Cabriolet A5 has a slightly bigger cabin owing to an increase in its length and dimensions as a whole. There is some extra shoulder room in the front cabin and additional 18mm leg room for back seat passengers. The rear seat has the capacity of being folded, increasing the space whenever needed.
The Audi infotainment system is outclass featuring a seven-inch large touchscreen. Its virtual cockpit with 12.3-inch screen is an unmatched replacement to the analog speed dial.
The vehicle is fully equipped with latest features such as collision avoidance assist, park assist, rear cross traffic assist and traffic sign recognition systems. Adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous traffic jam assist as part of driver assistance system is also available that is capable of operating at up to 40mph.
The manufacturer has opened pre-booking of orders and the first lot is scheduled for delivery in April this year.”
