It has always been a top secret of muscle car makers that how much power their engine will produce? Same is the case with Dodge, they have introduced Hellcat engine 6.2 litre V8 with a supercharger. What do you think how much power it will generate? The exact answer has been revealed by Dodge and it is 707 horsepower.
It is a mountain of horsepower from the Hellcat engine but second factor for a muscle car is torque, without powerful torque, all this horsepower is useless. The mighty Hellcat engine is equally muscular on the torque as well and generates a bulk of 650 Lb-Ft and it is more than enough to push you back into the seats on a slight push of accelerator and it will appear faster than you can say “bad Kitty!”. According to the company, Dodge challenger with this mighty Hellcat will be the most powerful challenger ever.
Ford’s previous generation Mustang GT500 is also a capable muscle car but it has 100 horsepower less then Hellcat V8, while torque is about 30 Lb-Ft lesser than the new Hellcat, while the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 makes a relatively wimpy 580 / 580 horsepower and torque.
Hellcat comes standard with red and black fobs; red is the most sensational one that unlocks the 707 hp and maximum torque; however the black fob key limits the output at 500 hp. This kitty has an eight speed automatic transmission as a partner that will share the agility. This SRT Hellcat package also has a full raft of hero making track apps package. This engine will debut later this year in Challenger.
