The baby Jaguar XE is coming back to the executive car segment as a vital turn for the British brand. All new baby Jag is making its entry into the most tough and competitive market segment where BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class alike competitors will say the XE a hot welcome.
The XE was first showcased at the Paris Motor Show last October. Order books are open sincethen but the deliveries will start in May 2015. You can order one for the starting price of £26,996. Jaguar launched the XE in a star-studded event in London by flying the car – with helicopter – over the city at sunset.
Jaguar has spent £2bn in a new production facility in Solihull, West Midlands and the new XE is the first product of the new Solihull facility. The most part of the car body is made of aluminium constructed here and the plant will also assemble several other models.
The engine production facility in Wolverhampton has been inaugurated by her Majesty The Queen, last year. This production facility is manufacturing the new fuel efficient Ingenium engines, for Jaguars and Land Rover models.
The standard model of baby Jag XE has six-speed manual transmission and 2.0 litre petrol engine. For the SE version the price will rise up to £44,870, which will give you a 3.0 litre supercharged engine. Other trims will be S, SE, R-Sport and the performance S. Diesel engine range is also available and the starting price for a base model with 2.0 litre diesel is £29,775.
In terms of specs and price, BMW’s 320i SE is very close to the base model of Jaguar and just over £400 cheaper. Diesel models have a big difference of almost £1,000 in a 3320d and a 2.0 litre XE.
