New Mini Clubman is a vital model of Mini and a different kind of car comparative to the present models of Mini. New Mini is considerably different and larger because it shares the typical front-wheel-drive platform of BMW 2-series.
The clubman concept was shown at the Geneva Motor Show 2014, was a small version but the new version is 4.2 metres long which makes it some 26cm longer than the original Clubman. It will not be an exaggeration if we call the new Clubman as the largest Mini so far. It is not only longer but also 161mm wider and 24mm taller as well.
Exterior is almost same with the conventional four doors and a conventional hatchback look. BMW has also planned to distinguish the car from its three-door version by significantly changing the interior design. The Clubman’s front end is inspired from its Rocketman concept, however, the interior gets its own style with a unique dash top moulding and new high rise centre console.
The New Clubman will offer the interior that will make it competitive in the European C-segment where fresh and dynamic competitors like Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus.
The new Clubman has the same suspension set-up as of its smaller version, even the independent rear end is also the same. BMW is expecting the Clubman as driver’s choice and an impressive Mini ever when it will arrive.
The new Clubman will use the same three-cylinder and four-cylinder BMW engines in both diesel and petrol versions as of the three-door Clubman. It is highly likely that the Clubman will also be offered with all-wheel drive configuration but not from its launch. Later in the life of Clubman, a plug-in hybrid version is also expected with three cylinder engine.
News on pricing are not available yet but it is expected that the entry level will be available from at least £17,500.
