The new Mercedes SLK is finally ending the year 2015 and the New Year will welcome the SLC Roadster. A name change among many improved features is the part of new model.
It’s the part of Mercedes-Benz new strategy of changing name plates according to the classes of the models. Mercedes-Benz has also undergone a new model classification strategy to present the C family with the C-Class and GLC SUV class.
Recently revamped SL class will hold the SLC and the good thing is it has some new Mercedes-Benz engines, some exterior revamps and even more safety equipment for improved performance.
Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 will act as a new performance model, while the SLC 200 and SLC 300 models get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol with several power options.
The power options include, 181bhp and 242bhp, while the 250d uses a 201bhp 2.1-litre diesel engine.
The diesel engine is the most economical with 64.2mpg and it is no slouch, as it gets 62mph mark in only 6.9 seconds in the SLC 200. The SLC 43 engine gets 362bhp twin turbo that allows it to get 62mph in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 155mph. It also gets twin tailpipes and few other small exterior changes.
An optional AMG ride suspension control system, adaptive dampers and a limited slip differential system makes the new SLC a desirable option.
Its fuel economy figures of around 37 miles per gallon are also impressive. However, it is bit harsh on the CO2 emissions with 178g/km.
A nine-speed double clutch automatic gearbox comes as standard on SLC 43, 200 and 300 models.
