Aircross concept car is the new member of the crossover family from the French automaker. It also has some looks which are taken from the C4 Cactus. These radical looks will be adopted on every CITROEN by 2020.
The Aircross’s production sits on the EMP2 saleable platform. This platform has all the attributes of PSA Peugeot CITROEN’s new technology.
The new concept is almost equal in size with the Land Rover Discovery Sport in all dimensions. It has a length of 4.58m, with a width of 2.1 metre. It is 1.8 metre high which is very close to the JLR legend.
CITROEN is eager to establish its own identity among other PSA models like DS and Peugeot brands. CITROEN boss Linda Jackson is very keen to accelerate the new concept with new looks over the next five years. Jackson said, “We need to go back to what we were always good at design that was complemented by an emphasis on comfort over sportiness, spaciousness and a charisma that made the owner feel at home. We want those qualities back.”
Jackson believes that these efforts will make CITROEN more recognisable and will also clear the customer’s state of mind to either hate us or love our models. Our customers will end-up with discounts on choosing their next vehicle. All of this will take time but it is certain that the next generation of CITROEN will definitely be gorgeous. She further said that if CITROEN wants to stand-out in cars then the vehicles have to be bold and outstanding in design and performance.
The all new plug-in Hybrid powertrain with an electric motor of 95bhp and 148lb-ft of torque is located at the rear axle. A 1.6 litre CITROEN engine leads the concept from the front. It develops 218bhp of power and 203lb-ft of torque. Battery driving range is 31 miles for city areas. Carbon emissions are rated at 39g/km and fuel economy at 166mpg. Let’s wait and see how air will pass through the CITROEN Aircross production model.
