Apple announced that CarPlay will go wireless very soon and after that it will work without any USB port connected to your car. However, apple did not specify the kind of connection that will be used in future, either it will be a Bluetooth connected connection or company will ask to connect the system with another wireless connection protocol.
The new CarPlay platform will support the range of screen sizes and resolutions, but is not clear that CarPlay will support the apps developed by the automakers themselves.
Apple CarPlay replicates apple’s iPhone OS on to vehicle’s infotainment system. The automakers can create their own apps for their car, but these apps will be able to work within the Apple’s CarPlay system. CarPlay system will give access to these apps and user will be able to monitor the performance of their vehicle. According to Engadget, users can collect data about fuel economy, vehicle location, and engine performance.
The new platform will also offer great support between driver’s personal phone and the CarPlay interface.
Apple has announced that the engineers at CarPlay development will improve the system and they will announce these improvements during the Worldwide Developers Conference.
CarPlay has a wide functionality and it will support automakers to connect Apple Watch with vehicle’s entertainment. Apple watch is another innovative product that some automakers are introducing in their cars, such as Volkswagen. Other automakers such as Hyundai, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are already taking advantage of these gadgets to bring info right to the wrist of the driver.
