The all new Volkswagen e-Golf is very smooth on the road and offers a great driving pleasure. If you are on the road and the e-Golf passes besides you, you would not feel its presence but only tyre noise on the coarse tarmac would spoil the party. Later in this summer, there is a third e-Golf model ready to hit the show rooms in the UK and it will be powered by the petrol-electric Hybrid system called Volkswagen Golf GTE Hybrid.
It is the first ever mass production Hybrid model of Volkswagen and it is in stark contrast different from its internally combustion Volkswagen engines in the market. Volkswagen has plans to make the car as distinctive as possible in this time till its introduction in the market. It has similar driving positions as standard models and the same gear lever as of DSG transmissions powered models. It is using a special platform that is designed to facilitate the battery packs, resulting in sacrificing the space inside the car and it will also keep the general utility to an absolute minimum.
This all new e-Golf is powered by a 24kwh lithium-ion battery pack which is fitted directly under the front and rear seats along the central tunnel. The adjustable boot floor is also reduced in the e-Golf. It works like conventional cars and you need to twist the key to start the system and push the lever into D to drive. Like the Prius and several other Hybrid cars, it also has all the torque on tap from start but it is very quiet.
This battery pack is offered with an eight year or 10,000 miles warranty, whichever comes first. Volkswagen says that they have developed the battery pack to deliver more than 80% power even after using for 10 years.
