Long-awaited Ford Focus RS has finally arrived at testing terrains after a long wait and the good news is, it is powered by a 300bhp Ford EcoBoost engine from the Mustang. It is a 2.3 Litre EcoBoost power unit which is exclusively fitted with twin-pipe exhaust system specifically for new Focus RS. Several online spy-shots show that the mega hatch Ford Focus RS is testing in US.
Although the front structure is an engineering mock-up, it does provide clues to the front end that will be fitted to the final production version; particularly the overstated lower intake feeds the engine intercooler to boost the power. Inside sources said that the Focus RS will use a new 2.3 Litre four pot engine with latest EcoBoost technology.
This four cylinder engine will crank out a mountain of power of almost 300bhp. This new engine is already being used in Ford Mustang which is generally known as American muscle. In the Mustang, 2.3 Litre EcoBoost engine is used with long ways and it drives rear wheels.
Chief operating officer for Ford Europe, Barb Samardzich, said “but let’s say there’s a strong desire. Something like that makes a great halo car,” she further said that Ford has a rich heritage of its RS cars and they are not about to let any competitor to come closer in the RS class, and the Ford engineering team is fully focused on Ford’s performance strategy.
Insider reports indicate that the new engines will enhance the driveability of Ford models and will be launched next year, but the exact time is not indicated in these reports.
